POEM #34

ON A RAINY DAY
SUCH AS THIS
I OFTEN FIND MYSELF

WANTING
TO SNAPSHOT YOUR EXISTENCE

AND UNVEIL

A FOREVER KNOWN TREASURE

IN MY HEART
I SIT HERE
WITH MY UMBRELLA
AGAINST THE LIGHTPOST
SO THAT I MAY

FEEL THE SONG

OF THE RAIN

TRICKLING DOWN

FORMING AN ARCH

OF MELODIES
AND HARMONIZE

A KEEPSAKE MEMOIR

FROM LONG AGO

WRITING THE FUTURE

FROM FORMER AFFAIRS
AND SOON

MY EYES

THEY DO BEGIN TO CRY OUT
A SONG
A LOVE SONG

SO SOFT
AND DEAR
AS
IF BIRTHED BY THE CLOUDS

AND AN INVITATION

IS BESTOWED UNTO ME

FOR SUCH A TIME AS THIS

GAZING

AS THE STARS

FIND WRATH

IN THE BENEVOLENCE
OF EVERY DROP

THE ESSENCE OF THEIR

LIQUID SPLENDOR

AND ALL THEY DO POSSESS

THAT FALL

IN HOPES OF

ONE DAY

GRACEFULLY LANDING

ON GRAVITY'S FOOTSTOOL

AND RELEASING THEIR THANKS

FOR A TIME WELL SPENT

BEFORE THEY RETURN

TO ADD HOPE

TO A DRY EXISTENCE

IT IS HERE

HERE
NOW

IN THIS MOMENT
THAT I ALLOW MYSELF
TO RELEASE ALL INHIBITIONS

THROUGH MY PEN
AND ORCHESTRATE
THE SYMPHONY OF LIFE

FROM ALL I SEE ABOUT ME

WITH MY HEART ON MY SLEEVE

AS I WITNESS

THE PASSERSBYS

AND NOTICE HOW THEIR MOODS

COINCIDE

WITH EVERY CHANGE IN MOVEMENT

FROM MY PEN
EVEN THEIR STRIDES

MAKE DIFFERENT BEATS

BUT ARE YET IN STILL

ON ONE ACCORD

IN ALL THIS WONDER

I LOOK FOR YOU STILL
INTRIGUING MYSELF

WITH THOUGHTS THAT

MAYBE YOU WILL APPEAR

AND MAKE YOURSELF

KNOWN TO ME

IN THE RELEASE

OF A STANDING OVATION
SO ON THIS BENCH OF DELIGHT

I SIT IN ANTICIPATION
AND CONTINUE TO PLAY
UNTIL YOUR ARRIVAL
YET IN THE MEANTIME

THE SHOW MUST GO ON...
